Psalms 116

Thanksgiving for Rescue from Death.

1 aI love the Lord, because He bhears
My voice and my pleas.
2 Because He has cinclined His ear to me,
Therefore I will call upon Him as long as I live.
3 The dsnares of death encompassed me
And the
Lit straits
terrors of
I.e., the netherworld
Sheol
Lit found me
came upon me;
I found distress and sorrow.
4 Then hI called upon the name of the Lord:
Please, Lord, isave my

life!”

5 kGracious is the Lord, and lrighteous;
Yes, our God is mcompassionate.
6 The Lord watches over nthe simple;
I was obrought low, and He saved me.
7 Return to your prest, my soul,
For the Lord has qdealt generously with you.
8 For You have rrescued my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from stumbling.
9 I shall walk before the Lord
In the
Lit lands
,
tland of the living.
10 I ubelieved when I said,
“I am vgreatly afflicted.”
11 I wsaid in my alarm,
xAll people are liars.”

12 What shall I yrepay to the Lord
For all His zbenefits
Lit upon
to me?
13 I will lift up the abcup of salvation,
And accall upon the name of the Lord.
14 I will adpay my vows to the Lord;
May it be aein the presence of all His people!
15 afPrecious in the sight of the Lord
Is the death of His godly ones.
16 O Lord,
Or because I am
I surely am ahYour slave,
I am Your slave, the aison of Your female slave,
You have ajunfastened my restraints.
17 I will offer You aka sacrifice of thanksgiving,
And alcall upon the name of the Lord.
18 I will ampay my vows to the Lord,
May it be in the presence of all His people,
19 In the ancourtyards of the Lord’s house,
In the midst of you, aoJerusalem!
